JEAN ARTHUR

Jean Arthur had a long, varied and glamorous career. She was from New York and her birth date has been variously cited as 1900,1905 and 1908. She died in 1991. She dropped out of high school, did some modeling and turned to acting while still in her teens in 1923. She starred with many if the current leading male idols and was especially noted for her hilarious performances. She also did stage ("Born Yesterday" which she left for newcomer Judy Holliday), taught drama and starred in a 1966 CBS sitcom. Shane was her last movie!
